The best way to tell if you cavy is inpig is after about 3 weeks after she has been with the boar start gently feeling her tummy it will start to feel round if she is inpig, then 3 weeks after this you will feel a fluttering sensation like holding a butterfly, this is called quickening aweek later there is definate kicks. so your babies will roughly be born 3-4 weeks after you feel the movement unless you have seen them mate then you will know. hope this is of help. Very Happy

Hi i tought i would just add this for you too -

Week 1 - No signs

week 2 - Sow may start drinking more than usual

week 3 - Sow will start to gain weight, so good idea so keep a weight diary. There will also be tighning of the abdominal muscles.

week 4 - An expiernced breeder will be able to feel small foestus

week 5 - Sow usallu looks noticably pregent, taking on a rather round apperance.

week 7 - Feel Quickining and babies kicking

week 9 - It may become difficult for the sow to move around but still be active and drink normal. The pelvic bones will seperate sometime during that week.

week 10 - The babies will be born

There can be premature births and if over 74 days not too much to worry about, as the sow could of been caught on second season like mmost of mine are or even the 3rd Smile

but its something between 60-74 days

Amy
